Admission for researchers

Special arrangements can be made for those who need to visit the archive for study purposes.

Each document in the archive is unique. As such, it must be handled with the utmost care and attention to slow down the natural deterioration it is inherently susceptible to. Therefore, all researchers granted access are kindly asked to cooperate in preserving the Opera del Duomo's documentary heritage.

In accordance with current regulations, documents older than forty years are freely available for historical research purposes. (Italian L. Decree 42/2004, Articles 122 and 127).
